Australian Cockroach Pests: The Various Types
Cockroaches have existed for millions of years, developing into one of the most adaptable pests in the world and most common Australian pests. The German Cockroach
The German cockroach is a small kind of cockroach, usually about 1.1 – 1.6 cm long. Its color differs from tan to nearly black, and has two dark, unevenly matching, stripes on the pronotum going anteroposteriorly from the back of its head to the base of its wings. Though it has wings, it can hardly fly, but may glide if bothered. It is perhaps the most troublesome among other few kinds of cockroach that are home pests.

The Brown-Banded Cockroach
The brown-banded cockroach is a small kind of Australian cockroach pests , measuring around 5⁄8 inch long. These cockroaches are the only kind of the genus Supella. They are tan to light-brown and have 3 light colored bands through their abdomen and wings, and might sometimes seem to be broken but are pretty obvious. The males have wings that cover their abdomen, but the females have wings which do not cover their abdomen totally. The males look slender than the females; their females appear much wider. They are has found in the southern, northeastern, and mid-west regions of the U.S pretty regularly.
The American Cockroach
The American cockroaches are also common Australian cockroach pests which people refer to as water bugs, but not truly water bugs because they are not aquatic and often mistaken for the palmetto bugs are the largest kinds of common cockroach. Other names people call them are; ship-cockroaches, Bombay canary, kakerlac.
American cockroaches are an average length of about 1.6 inch and around 0.28 inch tall. They are usually reddish-brown and have a yellowish border on their body region at the back of their head. The young cockroaches look like the adults except that they are have no wings.
The odorous excretions made by the American cockroaches can change food flavor. Furthermore, if the cockroaches are many in a particular place, an odorous excretion, in strong concentration, will exist. These cockroaches can pick up bacteria that can cause diseases, like Salmonella, on their legs and then place them on foods, causing food poisoning or infection.
